Weeks ago we were the Daily Megabit, Then Patch, and now Download The Patch. From the Beatbox text to the new logo our mission stays the same: Finding free programs that could make your computing life easier. Also, I try to get software that has no limitations, but this is very difficult. If anything, the reviewed programs will not be trials that have a day limitation, this much is certain. Oh, and here's our new review formula:
NAME
PICTURE/SCREENSHOT
DESCRIPTION
REVIEW
RATING (The "stars" given out now are Blank downloads out of 5 tries, meaning if the download crased or the program was deleted, this is how many times you'd be willing to re-download it)
DOWNLOAD LINK

= = =

LiveSwif Lite 2.1

Screenshot

A fully-free Flash MX clone, stripped of most features of course.

The thing I liked most about this program is no limits. It really had everything you needed to make decent flash film, plus it was less than 2 Megabytes. Very small, very free, and very watered down. This program makes you think, "Why pay the $400 for Flash when I have this for free?". And in a sense, this is my way of thinking. However, after using the 15-day trial of Flash, this just seems like a shoddy knock-off. I recommend this for everybody, specifically those who want to jump right into making a movie.

THREE downloads out of FIVE.

Download LiveSwif Lite 2.1

= = =

Another good download. Yup, I think that DLtP is going to be around for a long time.
-The Patch

Reindeer Games

Now then, I forgot to mention that the reviews are biweekly, meaning twice a week. There might be more updates than that in one week, but there will only be two reviews. Situations like these will be for major technology news, or site changes, etc. Speaking of site changes, we've completed the creation of this blog! Well, for now atleast. In the resources category to the right there will be the reviews sorted into different categories, as well as some other stuff. More links will soon be added, so don't fret.

= = =

Maple Story

A cutesy-cutsy anime 2D side-scrolling free massively-multiplayer online role-playing game. (*Mouthful*)

This MMORPG is set in the islands of Maple, Victoria, and Orbis. After you choose one of four proffessions, you can then later move onto a specific speciality after leveling up your character to the appropriate level. There are hundreds of different weapons, clothes, and items for collecting, as well as a few "cash shop" items. These items you pay for in real life and affect your gameplay only slightly, 'cause hey, Nexon has to make money with this game somehow. The other players are friendly, with a few exceptions. I've been playing since it officially came out in the US in May, and after a few flat-liners in terms of enthusiasm for this game, I've stuck with it. At times it's a bit repettitive and boring, and the world may seem small sometimes, but just partner up and those blues will fly away.

4 circuits out of 5

= = =

I chose a game bacause this will be the last post before the holidays, and I thought I might influence some people to have fun for once. The first program this week is the

= = =

Cypherix Products Cryptainer

This very easy to use program encrypts your files and stores them in a virtual vault, which is uncrackable without an 8-digit password. Simply run the program and drop the program into it from another window.

Simple, easy, and intuitive, while at the same time remaining very secure. I was able to jump right into the program right away and encrypt files. The process was releatively fast. However, as with most free programs, there is a restiction. The 25 MB "suggested" limit is the worst inhibitor in software I've ever seen, and I hate file-size limitations.

3 circuits out of 5

= = =

A great review to kick off the website.
